I am creating an app thru Visual Studio 2022 using Oracle databases.
The app will be primarily OLTP but a second, Portal, app will be developed for extensive ad-hoc reporting.
I am running Windows 11 64-bit Professional and have installed Oracle 21c database.
In the past (Oracle 11g and prior), I typically created 2 tablespaces:
1 - for data
2 - for indexes
The thought was that each would reside on its own separate disk.
My current disk setup is as follows:
C: drive SSD .5TB, OS and Oracle software is installed.
D: drive Western Digital External drive, .5 TB
E: drive NAS with 1 4TB drive, I can add 3 additional drives to the NAS.
With the advent of virtual machines (VMs) for server software and virtual disk for file storage is this approach still relevant??
Your opinions and best practices please.
