upgrading preinstalled openssl from the solaris 10 install

user4485593Jun 4 2010 — edited Jun 11 2010
I use the openssl that is installed by default in Solaris 10 which is not installed in /usr/local/. If I want to upgrade openssl, how do I specify where the files are to upgrade.

I would like to remove the default installation but past research indicates that is a bad idea as some of the libraries are used/referenced in other software. On the other hand I hear it is a bad idea to have 2 separate installs.

I know this is a third-party product but I was hoping someone would know.

Thanks
