Upgrading from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.45 Software Install Only

myluismDec 21 2010 — edited Dec 21 2010
Hi all.

I have to perform an upgrade from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4. After the upgrade, i have to install patch p7580744_10204 which is a timezone patch "HALFYEARLY DST PATCHES" .

Since this will be a fresh installation, my plan is to upgrade just the libraries and binaries: that is a software only install and then create a database on top of if. This is to avoid having to upgrade the database.

So in short the plan is:

- Install 10.2.0.1. Software only. No database, no EM
- Upgrade 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4. This basically involves running the 10.0.2.4 installer. No major pre or post requisites.
- Create the DB without EM Database Control using dbca from the upgraded 10.2.0.4 installation. This will make my DB 10.2.0.4.
- Install timezone patch (p7580744_10204).
- Create EM Database Control.
- Done.

Please, provide feedback on plan feasibility.

Regards, Luis ....!
