Hi Gurus,
We have a complex upgrade in next couple of months. We are planning to chalk down the strategy for the upgrade. Current environment details as below.
Current Status
Oracle - 11.2.0.4
OS - Redhat 6.7
Golden gate - 11.2.1.0.31
Post Upgrade
oracle - 12.2.0.1
OS - Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.2 (Maipo)
Golden Gate - 12.3.0.1.2 (Traditional Architecture)
No of DB's involved.
Master - PROD1 - (Can get downtime). ( Unidirectional replication from PROD 1 to QPROD1 and QPROD2)
Query - QPROD1, QPROD2 - ( Can get downtime, one at a time). (One table is being replicated bi-directional within QPROD1 & QPROD2)
Approach
We are planning to upgrade golden gate from 11.2 to 12.3 first, followed by DB upgrade.
Questions
1) When we install golden gate 12.3, it gives two options, one for 11g DB and another for 12c. When I upgrade my DB from 11g to 12c, do I need to re-install binaries separately or will my 12.3 GG binaries for 11g DB will work? If not, how can I avoid re-installing the binaries. Any available patch?
2) When I upgrade my QUERY- QPROD 1 Golden gate to 12.3, will my extract work from 12.3 to 11g and vice versa or are there any restriction with format release?
