Upgrade from Forms/Reports 11g to 12c

Shambo2904Jul 27 2023 — edited Jul 27 2023

Hi All

We are looking to upgrade our environment (as well as the customers in due course at their site) which is out of date and unsupported.

Our current set up at the customer site and also replicated at our dev/test site is :

Windows version : Windows server 2012 (on 2 servers, aplication server, database server)
Client workstations: Windows 10 (using Edge)
weblogic - 10.3.6.
Forms/reports - 11.1.2.2.0
Java - jdk - 7 upd80
Db Version : 12.1.0.1.0
JRE: v8 Update 31 (32 bit)

There's about over 100 forms and about 60 reports, 2 of the forms use the 'webutil' functionality, and have all the standard icons jar file for menu toolbars, user libraries, pll's , olb's etc

As the windows environment is coming to end of support and the oracle software is already out of support, we are looking to move to the following setup:

Upgrade to windows to win 2022 (on both database server and application server)

Oracle Fusion Middleware 12c (12.2.1.4.0)
JDK – 1.8.0_211+
Oracle Database 19c(19.3)
Oracle WebLogic Server – 12.2.1.4.0
Oracle Forms -12.2.1.4.0
Oracle Reports - 12.2.1.4.0

Is there any good documentation out there (several if possible), links to such documentation, so that this upgrade can be carried out and any issues I need to be aware of when upgrading from the 11g to the 12c environment, either from people who have undertaken such an upgrade or anyone else really who could help.

Is the forms/reports just a recompile of old to new or is there more to it, things of that nature to be aware of and consider as well as the webutil functionality which the application requires on a couple of the forms. Just anything that could potentially be an issue when upgrading from one env to the other.

Our infrastructure team would I suspect do the upgrade of the windows 2012 to 2022 update, then it would fall upon ourselves to upgrade the Oracle environment (including the upgrade of the db) to ensure the application continues to work as is.

Any help greatly appreciated

Regards
