Upgrade Forms 6.0.5 to 6i or 9i

I have just been given the task of developing the technical strategy for upgrading Forms.

We currently use v6.0.5.30.2 with Oracle 8.1.7.3 database.

Our DBA's wish to upgrade the database to 9i.

My task was initially to upgrade to Forms 6i, but I immediately questioned this as it is also an obsolete product. I proposed moving to 9i.

Can this be done in one hit or do I have to migrate to 6i first?

Do we even have to upgrade forms at all? We only use it in a two tier client server system.
