upgrade DB 10g to 11g when migrate Aix 5.3 to Aix 7.1

I wonder if the following method is correct. Because of large db volume, I exclude the export / import (too long) that can resolve this issu.

shutdown DB 10g on Aix 5L server
copy DB files source=Aix5L oracle 10g, target Aix 7.1 oracle 11g
recreate controle file on Aix 7.1 with Oracle 11g
"startup upgrade" of DB on aix 7.1 with oracle 11g
continue with upgrade of Db10g to Db11g
