Upgrade 10.2.0.5 to 11.2.0.3

Rosh_dbaApr 23 2014 — edited Apr 24 2014

Hi,

I have to upgrade from Oracle 10g to 11g of a server having two instances.I am not very familiar with windows so please help me tackle it.

OS: Windows 2008 sp2

db version : 10.2.0.5

upgrade to : 11.2.0.3

1. The Oracle 10g version is not in registry. No entry for oracle in \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ .  Do I need to register it in order to upgrade the 2 databases or it will detect using DBUA.

2.  Do I need to set ORACLE_HOME there prior to installation ?

3. Both the databases should be online for the upgrade ?

I am thinking of following the below steps for the procedure, please correct me

1. Backup database

2. Install the new Oracle11g software

3. Copy the utlu111i.sql to another location, and run it under 10g home

4. run dbua

5 copy the tnsnames.ora,sqlnet.ora and listener.ora file

6.netca and emca

Thanks
