UNNAMED Files During Flashback Database

RijuOct 3 2015 — edited Oct 3 2015

Hi All,

Why, during flashback database, to recover a dropped tablespace the datafile(s) comprising of the tablespace get renamed to UNNAMEDnnn? I was going through some examples on the internet but could not find any concrete reason as to why this happens during the flashback recovery. If the tablespace can be recreated during the process why not the datafiles that comprise it?

Could anyone please help me in my understanding.

Thanks.
