unknown.gateway cannot set hostname in Oracle linux 6.5

Hi All,

 I am unable to set the hostname on the Oracle linux system. I am using Oracle linux server 6.5 installed on virtualbox running an EBS developers VISION instance.

vi /etc/hosts

tried hostname localhost.localdomain and do a service network restart with no success. Please advise.
