Unix directory permissions for utl_file

444967Feb 23 2006 — edited Feb 24 2006
Hi,
I've one question :
On UNIX Solaris 8, I've created a repertory to be used for extractions from a database. (Its owner is the user X )
I've to give a "read/write/execute permission" on the directory to the UNIX user oracle otherwise I've an ORA-29283 error when I try to launch the extraction process.

Someone can explain to me why the UNIX oracle user need the execute permission ?

I've search in the documentation but I found no information about this particuliar point.
Thanks.

Olivier.
