Unexpected error while reading the DSCC registry : ADSCacheException

807573Jul 15 2010 — edited Aug 9 2010
As it turns out ... this was a problem with my java configuration. I installed a new jdk and ensured it was the one tomcat used. Subsequently, the error was no longer seen and I could log into the server console.

##################

I am attempting to install DSEE 7.0 under RedHat 5.1 with the control center running under tomcat. My tomcat runs as root. I am completing the install of the directory server as root. I am following the instructions in the Sun Directory Server Enterprise Edition 7.0 Installation Guide : http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-4807?l=en

After completing the install, when I go to the service control center page and attempt to log in, I see the following message:

Unexpected error while reading the DSCC registry.
The error is com.sun.directory.dcc.core.ADSCacheException.

At first, my tomcat was running as the user tomcat and my installation was done as the tomcat user. After finding several people have had permissions related problems, I uninstalled, configured tomcat to run as root, and reinstalled as root however, I still see the same error and am unable to log in.

I was unable to find errors in any of the logs I could locate. Perhaps you can point me to a log containing the stack trace for the exception above. Any hints as to why this may be happening will be appreciated.

Currently, the LDAP portion of the software is up and running and I am able to make queries against it. Only the console is inoperable.
