Understanding iSCSI and Comstar

user618718Jan 20 2014 — edited Jan 21 2014

I'm trying to integrate a Solaris 11.1 host with EqualLogic iSCSI storage arrays and I have a couple of questions.

  • Does Comstar help me at all? My understanding is Comstar helps with configuring a  Solaris host as aa iSCSI target and other Solaris hosts as iSCSI initiators. (So I would guess no?)
  • Is there any changes from Solaris 10 to Solaris 11.1 configuring Solaris as a iSCSI initiator to a third-party storage array (EQL) as the target? (My initial testing says no)
  • MPxIO still isn't supported with third-party storage arrays? (My initial testing says it still doesn't)
  • Is there any step by step document and best practices to guide me on how to configure a Solaris 11.1 iSCSI initiator with a third-party storage array as a target?

Thanks a lot!

Rick
