understanding form/block/record_status

Hi all,

I want to understand the changing of the status-properties:
I say:
create_record

form//block/record_status = NEW

but if I use an InitalValue in the block, I think at least one status-property has to change to INSERT, am I right?

Can anybody explain this to me?

What also is the diffrence when I say:
commit_form

of the form/block/record-status = NEW or INSERT?
