Unable to resize datafile due to datafile HWM

user1983888Aug 23 2010 — edited Aug 24 2010
Hi,

One of our customer is running a critical production database on Oracle 10g R2 RAC on HP-UX . The database size is nearly 900 GB and going to run out of space in 2 months time.

I checked the database and found two tablespaces are having nearly 130 GB free space. I wanted to resize the corresponding datafiles but when I gave the resize command I got error :

ORA-03297: file contains used data beyond requested RESIZE value.

I think I am getting this error as I am trying to resize beyond the highwatermark of the datafile.

We badly need to reclaim this 130 GB free space from the 2 tablespaces.

Please let me know what are the best possible options availble in our case. This is very critical production database.

Thanks.
