unable to login to fdm application and getting db connection error

Error: An error occurred logging on to the system. - Unable to connect to database. Please check database information and verify database is accessible.

Hi Gurus

Can anyone advise me on how to fix the above error.
I am on 11.1.2.2 epm versionon windows 2008 64 bit. oracle 11g, VMware.

I have installed 32 bit client and 64 bit oracle server. was able create fdm application but after creating when i try to login to fdm application i get above error.

I did check shared services, provisioning user has all permission for the fdm app created.

Any ideas...please let me know,
