Unable to install Oracle XE in Ubuntu properly

I tried installing Oracle XE (Universal and Standard) on Ununtu, there was no error shown while installing. When I tried to connect, it throws ORA-12157: TNS:internal network communication error
Before installing Oracle, I connected as oracle, then used sudo -i to log in as root.
