Unable to display UTF-8 text in javafx.scene.text.Text

I am unable to display the text (read from a txt file with utf-8 encoding) in a Text component javafx.scene.text.Text . It comes as junk character. However this text is visible when set as title of the Stage. Any idea how to display Indian languages in JavaFx ?
