Unable to connect to database homepage after installation of Oracle 10g XE
619887Jul 11 2009 — edited Aug 1 2009Hi,
I have installed OracleXE (Univ) 10g database on my laptop, by running the OracleXEUniv.exe file. The installation wizard shows that the installation is complete, and I checked the 'Launch database' option. However, the browser trying to connect to the URL "http://127.0.0.1/apex/" returns the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".
The shortcuts for the application is available in 'Start > Programs > Oracle Database 10g Express Edition >..'
I have gone through some threads and tried to resolve the issue, by checking out few options:
1. I used the shortcut for Start Database -> The OracleXE TNS Listener service was started successfully, but the OracleServiceXE service is not available (message says "the service name is invalid")
2. I checked the services window under Control Panel > Admin Tools, the OracleServiceXE service does not appear there.
3. I had installed a few other Oracle applications like BPA Suite and Fusion Middleware earlier on the laptop. I uninstalled them, and tried to install the XE database. However, the same result.
To make sure that the installer file is not corrupted, I used the same file on a desktop, where it installed successfully, and the database homepage opened up without any problem.
I observed that during the installation on my laptop, the last portion of configuring the database does not appear at all, and the wizard suddenly
jumps and says 'installation complete'.
My laptop operating system is Windows XP SP2.
Request some help to resolve the issue.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
K.C.
