unable to add connection after adding jtds-1.3.0.jar through preferences

I'm trying to setup a connection to an SQL Server datadictionary . I added the jtds-1.3.0.rar through preferences as third party JDBC driver. However this somehow invalidates creating a connection from file --> import --> datadictionary.

If I remove the jtds , I can add a connection, but this does not allow for setting up a connection to SQL Server.
