Hello All:
We have a physical server with the name "erpdb2" with existing Data Domain Backups. We are trying to restore data from this backup to another physical server with the name "erp1" using the Oracle RMAN product. This has been working for years.
Recently, we noticed on our Data Domain that there are 8 MTREEs (a.k.a: Repositories):
(/data/col1/nv_rman_01, /data/col1/nv_rman_02, /data/col1/nv_rman_03, /data/col1/nv_rman_04, /data/col1/nv_rman_05, /data/col1/nv_rman_06, /data/col1/nv_rman_07 and /data/col1/nv_rman_08)
On 12/22/2022 these MTREE's had a small amount of Pre-Comp (GiB) data stored on them.
As of 02/23/2023 it now shows 0.0 GiB data available.
Basically, we want to rule out the Data Domain MTREE's as the cause of the error message we are receiving (shown at the bottom of this post)
NOTE: Our Backup Administrator uses a product called NetVault to perform backups of all physical servers to 4 other MTREES named:
(/data/col1/nv01_unix_01, /data/col1/nv01_unix_02, /data/col1/nv01_unix_03 and /data/col1/nv01_unix_04).
Also, our Backup Administrator assures us that the MTREE's (nv_rman_0...), listed at the top, are not in use by the RMAN product.
Basically, we want to determine, from where, the Oracle RMAN product is trying to retrieve data to ensure that these (nv_rman_0...) MTREE's are indeed not the culprit
I hope this all makes sense and that someone may have some insight to point us in the right direction as to what may suddenly be causing this error to appear.
