Tuning Like Operator used with OR

SaurabhPerfTestJan 13 2016 — edited Jan 20 2016

Struggling with tuning the like operator in the below query. Tried adding indexes, using HINTS and creating Views but the issue with the SQL performance persists.

SQL is taking too long to respond after a specific load and consumes majority of DB CPU resulting into overall performance degradation.

Any suggestions/help is welcome. My question might sound silly to few, pls bear with me as I am new to Oracle DB.

select PRODUCTID, NAME, DESCN as description, CATEGORY as categoryId from PRODUCT WHERE lower(name) like :1 OR lower(category) like :2 OR lower(descn) like :3;
