Tuning?
Hi Friends,
I have installed 10g DB in one of our prod server and run it on production for more than a year now. I only use the default 10g installation parameters and the system seemed to work fine even without tuning :). Also our tables at the beginning started from scratch or with minimal rows or zero. When the system gets slow I only created indexes for tables which are getting bigger and bigger. As a simple dba I only maintain/test backup restore using RMAN. Assist developers in creating database objects and debug/tune some sql statement. I felt sad when I see that our system does not teach me real experience in database TUNING,sob :( ....(especially when I am dreaming to work abroad). Or does it mean that the problem is with me?
I envy lots of DBA in this forum who have great experience and challenges in tuning DB. I wish you could share me just 1 unforgetable real world experience you have done in tuning your DB.
Just in case I face real the world of database administration. Is it right to generalize that the first step in tuning is to run 'STATSPACK'?
Thanks a lot for your precious time
