trying to install Solaris 10 on SunBlade 100

Somebody recently gave me a SunBlade 100. I've never used a Solaris or SPARC computer before so please be patient with me. The SunBlade has Sun OS 5 on it so I wanted to update that to Solaris 10. I downloaded Solaris 10 10/09 SPARC and burned it to a Fujifilm DVD+RW disc. Switched on the SunBlade and put the disk in. It went to the user login screen. There is a user account on it but the previous owner didn't remember the password. Anyway, the computer reads the DVD then accesses the floppy drive then read the DVD again. It does this over and over. Since I've never used a Solaris machine before I have no idea what is supposed to happen but I'm guessing that going back and forth between the floppy and DVD drive is not supposed to happen. Could it be that the drive isn't properly reading my DVD+RW disk? Maybe I should try a different brand of DVD-RW or a DVD-R disk? The drive is a Pioneer model DVD-115 and is only a ROM drive. From what I've read and experienced some ROM drives will read burnable DVD's and some won't. Any suggestions?
