Truncate vs delete in dataguard

yxes2013Jun 30 2013 — edited Jul 8 2013

Hi all,

11.2.0.1

We have an existing dataguard setup. For normal daily transactions from 8am-5pm it can successfully

transport archivelogs to the standby backup. But during batch hours after 6pm, there are cleanup process

where in we delete big transaction tables, and what is worse is that before deleting them we back it up  by

inserting it in a backup table. So huge archivelogs are generated by these process which  caused the network bandwith

not able to accommodate the archivelogs transport.

How do you  manage big archivelogs for deletes and inserts?

Is there a workaround for this? Is truncate a better options?

Thanks a lot,

zxy
