Troubleshooting Oracle Performance on WAN (MPLS)

651748Jul 24 2008 — edited Jul 30 2008
Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to troubleshoot a poor Oracle network performance on a site installation. Here's the basic setup:

Site 1:
Oracle Database Server
App Server
Clients

Site 2:
Oracle App Server
Clients

Both sites are linked via a 1mbps MPLS line (on Cisco routers).

Clients on Site 1 have good transaction performance (because access to the database and app server are within the LAN) but clients on Site 2 have very bad performance (probably because they access the database remotely; TNS communication goes through WAN).

I do not know whether this is a good or acceptable setup. If it is, then I'm lost as to what network and Oracle optimizations should I do.

Can someone point me to the right direction?

Thank you.
