transparant background of a .gif does not appear transparent in report

EmielBApr 25 2008 — edited Apr 25 2008
Hi to you all,

From time to time i need to display a drawing in a report.
when shown once in the header i have no problem but for this peticular report i show a drawing (sort of symbol) at record level. So every record has a drawing to show.
the background of the frame the record is in is set programmatically. (even records show in white, odd records show in grey).
I first did create a drawing (bmp, gif) that had a white background.
It disturbs me when it is showed in the frame of the grey record(you have a white square around the drawing). Than i remembered that (e.g. once applied in Oracle forms) you can define a drawing (.gif in my case) to have a transparant background.
Using my drawing in for example Microsoft Word works great but when i use this gif in my report his background turns black. Can reports not 'handle' transparancy' for gifs or must i try otherwise?

greetings,

Emiel
