trailing space

Hi and thank you for reading my question.

I have a small application with several text-Fields. The fields are defined as varchar2 in the DB.

When data is entered with trailing blanks, then the trailing spaces are stored in the varachr2 fields. In contrast, when using Oracle Forms, these trailing blanks are truncated before the fields are written to the DB. Is there a similar behaviour for APEX? Or do I have to write a "post calculation" for every field??

Environment: Oracle 11.2, APEX 4.1
