Tracked Asset Receipt in Multistep Receiving Process Loses Visibility to Replicated Assets

Hans NielsenAug 13 2025 — edited Aug 18 2025

Gap: No easy way to identify Assets / Asset Replications created as part of Receipt process prior to Acceptance

During the Receiving process for a Trackable Asset related Stock Code, the user is expected to perform an Asset Replication tied back to the Receipt Line to create the Asset records associated with the Receipt event. However, there is no easy way to find the related Assets or Asset Replications for a given Receipt while the Receipt is still in progress. The Asset Replication and/or Assets are not shown anywhere on the Receipt until the Receipt is fully completed. This is particularly relevant for multi-step processes, as the Receipt may linger in a ‘In-Receipt’ but not ‘Accepted’ status for a prolonged period to conduct such activities as a Test Tech Inspection on a transformer, and users will want to see the associated Asset record for the receipt to determine if the Asset is ready to be Accepted into stores.

When moving to ‘Receive All’ or ‘Receive Partial’ the item, the user is prompted to provide the Asset Replication item to grab the asset records from. However, the system should already know if an Asset Replication exists tied to the associated Receipt Line. It shouldn’t have to ask the user to manually provide the reference. It should at the very least default in the Asset Replication associated to this particular Receipt Line.

The Asset Replication search screen does not even allow to filter by associated Receipt Line, despite this being a field on the Asset Replication record. This makes the user’s life even harder when they are prompted to provide the associated Asset Replication, because if there are a large number of Asset Replication events listed in the system the user cannot filter by Receipt Line to find the correct Receipt, and must instead carefully comb through the search results for the correct Asset Replication.
