Toshiba TE2000 Laptop will install but won't boot

807559Feb 26 2002
Hi all, I have a Toshiba TE2000 1GHz laptop (Australian Model), and no matter what I do to it, Solaris doesn't want to boot. It gets stuck either in the DCA (while "building device list" if I do a full scan, or immediately after successfully scanning if I do a specific scan... alternatively, if it skips the DCA altogether, it will go through to "Initialising System / Please wait...", and freeze there)

No matter what, it requires a cold boot. I have tried installing Solaris alone, with XP, with Linux, with LILO, with GRUB -- nothing works. Always the same. I've used 1/01 and 10/01 media kits, I've patched to the latest recommended x86 patchset, I've reinstalled the boot block, I've copied /boot from the CD to the HDD... nothing works...

The strange thing about this is that if I boot from the Software 1of2 CD, the DCA there works fine -- and I can then select "DISK" to boot from, and boot up successfully... but I can't make it boot from HDD... Any hints? Help!

if Possible, please email me at richard@yellowgoanna.com with any hints ... Thanks
