Too many archive logs are generated in the DB after Data Guard configuration

User_BWE3ZJun 10 2015 — edited Jun 11 2015

We have implemented our critical production Database on Oracle 11g R2 (11.2.0.3) (Single Instance) database 2 years ago. In March this year we implemented Oracle Data Guard for our DR site.

We have noticed that from the time we had implemented Oracle Data Guard, there is a lot of Archive Log generation. Now a days around 20 GB of Archive Logs are generated per day which I think is not normal. Even on week ends there is excess Archive Logs generated though the system is hardly used on week ends.

I wish to know what could be the cause of the large Archive Log generation after Data Guard implementation. I am thinking if FORCE LOGGING which I enabled during DG setup is causing this. Any clues should be of help.

thanks
