tons of .aud files generated under adump

We noticed there are tons of (2500) .aud files generated under the adump for our production database every day. 99% of them were unix user oracle connect / as sysdba. It seems like some sort of pinging to the database on every minute. each time creating two sessions. I am wondering how to find out which program is causing this.
