timestamp import format difference

Oracle 9i accepts the following sql insert format for timestamp
{ts '2005-01-24 15:04:00' }

Oracle 10g does not like {ts but accepts the format below
timestamp '2005-01-24 16:08:00',

can you confirm what is acceptable to 9i and 10g (trying to support a product
to run on both)
