Time spent on a particular webpage

Hi everybody

I am doing a project on website optimization employing web usage mining techniques....In that, i have to find out the time spent by a user on a particular page from the server access logs..(I am using petstore for demo purposes).

I dont even know where to start....Can some body provide me with a detailed algorithm.....

Thanks in advance for any help....(Is there a need for me to use HttpServlet if i am retrieving information from access logs...i am sorry if my question sounds silly...please help me)
