Thoughts on AMM or ASMM

Hi all,

Was studying the doc http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28274/memory.htm about oracle strongly recommends to set memory_target.

Read in few posts that setting memory_target is buggy and doesnt work well and having issues. For my previous customer for 11.2.0.2db i have set memory_target and everything was working fine.

Now for the new customer all 11.2.0.3 db uses sga_target.

Please post your thoughts on setting memory_target which uses the /dev/shm.
