There seem to be some forces against jsp. Why?

I have read some criticisms of jsp that all seem to me to be bogus. Usually some stuff about how jsp doesn't force MVC. Basically the criticism is that jsp is too powerful for the liking of some those architect types who must prop up the illusion that "lowly" gui programmers would be too confused by the java in jsp's or that they can't be trusted with the full power of the java programming language at their disposal. I think these opinions are elitist and self-serving. Besides what companies have the budget for a fleet of programmers who do nothing but html. All web apps I've been on have java programmers doing the html as well. I just don't see the value in using some sort of templating engine with a propriety scripting language just for the sake of forcing mvc. Nothing should be forced. Don't we have enough coercion in this world. Also, the html programmer learns jsp to enhance his pages is well on his way to being a full fledged java developer. Is that what people are afraid of? Too much competition? Don't get me wrong. I think mvc is the way to go WHEN YOU HAVE THE TIME. And jsp works beautifully in this context but the power to do quick prototypes and proof of concepts is a beautiful thing.
