The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.

I have set up Oracle 9i database (which ships with OSE) and set up a jsp application.
Every now and then I get the following message

Bad Gateway
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
Document contains no data

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oracle HTTP Server Powered by Apache/1.3.12 Server at <hostname> Port 80

at my browser instead of the page. I heard that this is a misconfiguration of the OSE and not
an apache problem. Can anyone help me?
