Are you familiar with the term "citizen developer?"
The Gartner IT Glossary describes a citizen developer as "a user who creates new business applications for consumption by others using development and runtime environments sanctioned by corporate IT." In an interview I did with Oracle Mobile and Development Tools Product Manager Shay Shmeltzer he said, "citizen developer is the way that my job is going to be obsolete."
Advances in development tools are indeed making it easier to develop business applications, even for those with limited skills. But how will this affect your world? Do you see the citizen developer as a threat or an opportunity? Have you formulated a plan of action, or do you think the impact will be minimal? Share your thoughts here.
