Text disabled to not allow users to update which creates an issue while submitting the page

s_mNov 18 2015 — edited Mar 2 2016

Well, I tried searching around but couldn't find appropriate solution, so posting here. Please help me on the below issue.

Oracle Application Express 4.1.1.00.23

Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production

So, I have a dropdown field and a text field. I created one dynamic action to programmatically change the value in the text field as per the value selected in the drop down list. My requirement is not to let users change the value of the text field. So, I disabled the text field (Disabled: Yes / Save Session State: Yes) and I got the below error when hit the Update button.

"Session state protection violation: This may be caused by manual alteration of protected page item P450_BUSINESS_OWNER. If you are unsure what caused this error, please contact the application administrator for assistance."

I tried the same with Read Only Option as well but didn't work.

Please help me with the workaround to actually make a text field not updateable and only change automatically when a drop down field is changed.

Thanks,
SM
