Testing VM and have some questions

159999May 7 2009 — edited May 18 2009
I am testing Oracle VM product 2.1.2 and have a problem. The installation of Oracle VM Manager and Server went fine. I was able to create server pool. Currently I am testing on a desktop grade machine with dual core CPU with virtualization support.

I am trying to create a hardware virtualized guest for Ubuntu 64-bit server. I was able to import and approve the .iso file. Then I created the VM using the VM manager. On the server, I noticed that the iso file was copied to /OVS/iso_pool/Linux/ directory. Now the VM manager is showing the VM status as "Creating". It has been several hours and status is still at Creating.

a) How long does it take to create the guest? Is there any log of the progress?
b) If I create hardware virtualized vm, can I use any OS like Windows 7 which is not in the tested OS list?
c) I read in some threads that if the .iso file size is more than 4GB, the import will hang. Is this still a problem in version 2.1.2? Is the workaround still an upgrade of Apache web server? Is the limit 4GB or would import hang at 3GB also?

Thanks...
Arun
