temp lis files

hello all, how does the .lis files work?
i'm launching several reports (in loop) and i need to delete the .lis files before every new report.
so far i'm able to do it with a HOST command on forms... but i wonder where can i expect to find the .lis file when the report run in a production enviroment.

long story short, i need to know the basics of the .lis files generated by the reports.
