TCMP limitation on number of nodes

864480Jan 4 2012 — edited Jan 5 2012
Hi everyone,

is there any theoretical limitation in the number of nodes TCMP protocol can handle within a single Coherence cluster?

We are looking at using Coherence as caching mechanism for a Grid application (around 5000 cores).
Each engine (JVM) of the Grid will use a NearCache, each of which will be part of the Coherence cluster during the life of this JVM. This means that when the Grid application will be running, the Coherence cluster would be composed of 5000 nodes (most of them NearCaches).

I guess the limitation on the number of nodes that TCMP can handle will also depend on the amount of data transferred between nodes or the available bandwidth (1Gbps initially).

Any documentation/experience will be more than welcome.

Thanks
Angel
