tar: ./SYSTEM01.DBF: file changed as we read it

user13076519May 6 2010 — edited May 9 2010
I am taking a manual hotbackup.

I put all the tablespaces in begin backup mode and I Verified from v$backup and all the datafiles show status as ACTIVE

Now I do a tar and gzip of the datafiles. For some of the files, I see the below message. "file changed as we read it". When I went to the dbf directory, I see the datafiles with the latest timestamp.

...
...
...
./GMIX01.DBF
./JTSD01.DBF
./SYSTEM01.DBF
tar: ./SYSTEM01.DBF: file changed as we read it
./BSCD01.DBF
./ICXD01.DBF
...
...
...

Is this normal ? Why does the "file change" when I locked it (hot backup mode). Any ideas ? Please confirm if the backup will be OK.

-Thanks
Srinivas
