APEX 4_2 11G backend

I have a tabular form on one of my pages.

It updates nicely and has two fields which are diaplyed as NULL when the new row is created...I fill in the other information and hit submit....

This automagically fills in the fields UPDATED_BY with the current logged in user and the EDIT_DATE column with the appropriate date of the edit...

However I have no idea (long time ago) how I set this tabular form up to do this.

I"ve tried to set up a new tabular form to no avail....

The UPDATED_BY column in the tabular form that works is set to the following but somehow it gets the APP_USER put in correctly...I'm miffed to how this is working....so that I can repeat it on other tabular forms.
