Tablespace full alert

728256Oct 14 2010 — edited Oct 19 2010
Hi,

This might be a silly question but this is what we are facing.

Let us assume that we have a user tablespace in ASM. We added 1 datafile in ASM to the tablespace and mentioned the datafile size as unlimited.

Now I observed that there is a limit of 32GB for every datafile in ASM ( Oracle 10.2.0.4 RHEL 4.5).

My doubt is when we create this tablespace with datafie of size 100MB and auto etend on unlimited. How would Oracle know if that particular tablespace is 80% full or 90 percent full. Becuase when ever I see it shows as 99% used and add increases by 100MB( defined by us) when it needs more space.

Based on what do we get alerts in EMControl. Please explain?

Thanks
Rocky
