T3 RAID problem

wgkorb-JavaNetFeb 18 2009 — edited Apr 7 2009
Hello,

I have an T3 with 9x73GB drives, and all has been well up to this point. As it is getting kind of long in the tooth, I've had to replace a few drives over the years, but always without issue.

However, I had a drive fail recently, and I have been unable to get replacement drives to work. I have repeatedly tried with multiple spare drives, and all of them fail as described below. I even thought that perhaps all of my spares were bad, so I plugged them into a SB1000 and run full surface analysis on the drives, and they worked fine in that situation.

When I hot-plug the new drives, the auto-replacement process begins as it always has, but eventually, I see this error:
Feb 11 08:11:41 t3 LT00[1]: N: u1d3 Reconstruction failed
Feb 11 08:11:41 t3 LT00[1]: W: u1d3 Recon attempt failed
I then tried to force a reconstruction from the T3 command line, but that similarly fails:
t3:/:<11>vol recon u1d3
ERROR (200015) VN_RAIDERR: RAID error
Does this imply there is something wrong with the controller on the T3, or am I missing something obvious here?

Thanks,
Bill
