System Tray Icon problem

I installed the most recent JRE for my Windows XP Pro SP2 machine (jre-6u3-windows-i586-p-s) and went into the Java Control Panel to configure my settings as follows:

Check for Updates Automatically: Unchecked
Advanced > Miscellaneous: Place Java icon in System Tray: Unchecked.

Periodically, I'll notice the java icon appear in my system tray and I'll check the settings, and that miscellaneous checkbox is checked again.

It never did this in previous revisions of the JRE. Is this a known bug?
