system freeze on execution (j2sdk1.4.1_01 on win98)

I've downloaded j2sdk1.4.1_01, which appears to have installed OK.
But when I try to launch BlueJ the whole system freezes, and I have to reset. The same happens if I try to execute Java Web Start from the desktop.
I use Windows 98.
Any help would be much appreciated.
