Hi,
I worrying about the size of the syslog file present under /var/log. it is taking much space and filling /var file system rapidly. Current disk space syslog occupying is around 3.0 G. As I have also checked by trying to match syslog.conf file present in other servers at same environment
but didn't find any configuration changes.

I found that syslog file is filling maximum with logs from refused sendmail messages but only this server has problem in whole environment however other servers are also getting logs for refused sendmail messages but there syslog is normal. All servers present had set up with same configuration to maintain consistency across environment.

Error captured on syslog file:-

Sep 1 19:17:28 cnsn13 sendmail[6521]: [ID 801593 mail.info] p7V42M7N018439: to=postmaster, delay=1+19:14:57, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=15614138, relay=[127.0.0.1], dsn=4.0.0, stat=Deferred: Connection refused by [127.0.0.1]

Also I want to inform that root file is not present under /var/mail but this is not affecting the issue as other servers also don't have this file in place so this could not be the resolution anytime.

Please help me to find out possible cause of filling syslog file under /var/log so that I can investigate as per you suggestions. All types of suggestions/recommendations would be appreciate. Please help me to know what is causing this syslog file size to become larger?

Thanks in advance to all..

Regards
Amit
