Switch Connectivity

788793May 3 2012 — edited May 7 2012
Hi All,

Having a primary and DRC. Oracle 11gR2 with Data Guard.

Now if we implement DG Broker with Observer, we can get the benefit of FSFO and FAN.

My question is;;

1> When Primary is Switched over to Standby using Broker and Observer auto, how does the Application connected to the DB switches??
Do I have to manually switch the application or it can be done through the Broker/observer ??

2> In Failover the Primary Fails over to Standby, how does the application switch over to standby ??

If we can't do auto, what is the best practice to switch the application connectivity without least human intervention ??
